This lecture focuses on the costume and dress accessories that would have been worn at both formal (Regulated Court Costume) and informal occasions at the Imperial Court by Civil, Military and High ranking members of the Imperial Family. David will bring a display of Insignia of Rank badges for us to examine.

David has more than 30 years of working and living in East Asia. He and his wife Wendy have assembled over 500, predominately Qing Dynasty, textiles now in the Collection of Imperial Costume, Shanghai Museum, People’s Republic of China. David lectures for The Arts Society and a number of other organisations in the UK, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and SE Asia.
